It has come to the attention of the Town Council that some people are somewhat disappointed in the display of Christmas lights in Loftus this year, and that in particular they think there should be a more substantial display on the tree at the Town Hall. The Council is surprised by this, as there are more lights in Loftus than at any time in the past, but values all input from the community.
As a response to some of the comments, here is a resume of who provides what and where.
Loftus should be a truly festive town as Christmas approaches, thanks to to the efforts of many sections of Loftus Parish Community working together.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 2016
As always there was fantastic support and turnout from our Uniformed Groups and residents for the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service at Loftus War Memorial. We were also delighted to welcome the Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, David Kerfoot MBE DL to Loftus to lay a wreath on behalf of the Lieutenancy (photo below) - Mr Kerfoot commented it was a 'poignant and fitting tribute to those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice'.
To celebrate the 90th Birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II in June 2016 Cllr Wayne Davies, Mayor of Loftus, would be delighted if you could join him to watch at a Parade of Uniformed and Cadet Services through the Market Place in Loftus, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving in St Leonard’s Parish Church, where the Bishop of Whitby will deliver the sermon. Following the Service a light buffet lunch will be served in the Town Hall.
