A huge congratulations to Cllr Barry Hunt for raising £15500 for SSAFA. SSAFA were delighted to attend the Loftus Art Gallery on Thursday evening and receive this amazing donation. Cllr Hunt slept out at 11 Cenotaphs across East Cleveland leading up to Remembrance Sunday 2018 and also raised money throughout his Mayoral year 2018-19. In his speech Cllr Hunt explained he had chosen SSAFA as his Charity as he felt that there were ex-servicemen and their families that were not getting re help they should, but thanks to SSAFA, this was changing - he was very proud and humble to present the cheque and said this was once of the best causes he had ever been involved with. Cllr Hunt also thanked everyone who has donated, sponsored and supported him throughout this endeavor. Tom McCune and Frank Dooley from SSAFA expressed their sincere gratitude to Cllr Hunt for the money and awareness raised and confirmed this was one of the most remarkable individual efforts of fundraising for SSAFA Cleveland they had witnessed.

Loftus Town Council was honoured to provide a brief refreshment stop for the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr John Sentamu at Loftus Town Hall on Tuesday 8 December 2015. Archbishop Sentamu is on a 6 month Pilgrimage of Prayer, Witness and Blessing throughout the Diocese of York, and had just led a service at All Saints Church Easington and met with youth workers at St Hilda’s Liverton Mines. During his brief visit to the Town Hall, he spoke on the phone with Adrian Childs of Radio 5 Live. Later that day, he visited Skinningrove Village and blessed the restored jetty and improved sea defences.
